From the time she arrived in Philadelphia two years ago, Rosie Mae Henson, MPH '16, quickly became involved in activities in the Dornsife School of Public Health as well as the larger Drexel community. Henson is currently conducting her Community-Based Master's Project (CBMP) with the Department of Health and Human Services at the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health (OASH). As a health policy intern, Henson is assisting with a range of concurrent projects in policy topical areas including ACA, Women's Health, Family Planning, Million Hearts, and HIV/AIDS.

Dornsife School of Public Health welcomed Angela Diaz, MD, PhD, MPH, Director of the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center for the March Population Health Spotlight Series talk. Dr. Diaz discussed the value of using an integrated health care system for adolescents.

Nearly 30 participants from diverse scientific backgrounds – physicians, social scientists, geographers, engineers, urban planners, architects, epidemiologists –  attended the second meeting of the Network for Urban Health in Latin America and the Caribbean. The network was launched in Philadelphia in September of 2015 in the context of the Drexel Dornsife School of Public Health . The second meeting was held March 7 and 8 at the foothills of the Andes mountains in Santiago, Chile.

James Buehler, MD, professor of Health Management and Policy in the Dornsife School of Public Health, returns to Drexel this quarter after serving as the Health Commissioner for the City of Philadelphia. In addition to his Health Commissioner experience, Dr. Buehler has worked at the federal, state, and local government levels, experiences that align with our school's focus on health in cities. He recently sat down with Katrina Obieta, MPH '17, and shared his thoughts on the experience of working on health at all government levels, on returning to teaching, and on the future of public health.
