SALURBAL: Evidence for Action

This page serves as an archive for SALURBAL and is no longer being updated regularly.

SALURBAL recognized that to create policy change, it is essential to disseminate research beyond academic journals and conferences. Our team worked to ensure that project findings were relevant and accessible to non-researchers.

To learn more about SALURBAL’s approach, read our policy brief “Knowledge to Policy Translation for Urban Health: Lessons from Latin American cities”.

SALURBAL worked with policy stakeholders and the media to disseminate our research widely so that it can be used to create change. The project also produced and disseminated a variety of materials to make findings accessible to a wide range of audiences.

URBAN POLICY AND HEALTH EVENTS

The project held periodic in-person and virtual events to disseminate its research and findings, and to engage local partners in dialogue around policy issues. These events focused on issues such as transportation policies, food policies, and housing interventions in cities.

SALURBAL held a “Knowledge-to-Policy Forum” in November 2018 in Mexico City. The event engaged more than 20 regional and international policy stakeholders in discussion around their knowledge needs and how SALURBAL could support the creation of healthier cities in the region.Read more.

DATA AND POLICY BRIEFS

SALURBAL developed policy briefs to summarize knowledge about policy options to improve health, health equity, and environmental sustainability in cities, using examples from Latin American cities.
The project also summarized data and research on specific topics in data briefs. See Policy Briefs and Data
