Westphal College alumna Courtney Sabo (Graphic Design ’15) is recognized in Forbes’   in the Consumer Technology category. Courtney Sabo is cofounder of Kopa, a long-term rental platform for finding roommates and apartments.

Tom Quinn, Assistant Professor and Program Director for Film & Television, was awarded a 2020 Fellowship from the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. Pew Fellowships provide unrestricted awards of $75,000 to individual artists from all disciplines.

Get Out the Vote poster design competition is powered by Graphics Group, a ����Vlog student organization, and open to all Westphal College of Media Arts & Design students! The goal of this nonpartisan, apolitical poster design competition is to unite Drexel Westphal students under a noble cause, highlight the power of design in civic action, and encourage the Drexel community to vote.

����Vlog Fashion Design ’20 alumni Amanda Forastieri won the 2020 Supima Design Competition with her collection Utopia presented during the 13th annual runway show on September 10, 2020. The event was open to all and broadcasted on Supima's Instagram Live with host and renowned celebrity image architect, Law Roach.

Jason S. Schupbach, director of The Design School at Arizona State University, has been named to succeed Allen Sabinson as dean of the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design.

Resilience, a new game created by , a senior student team from the Digital Media Department, Music Industry Program, and College of Computing & Informatics (CCI), has been selected as the winner of the 2020 Awards in the Best Student Game category.

The faculty of the Department of Performing Arts have swiftly adapted to the remote teaching environment, offering creative possibilities that compensate for in-person collaboration.

The faculty of the Department of Digital Media have adopted a number of innovative strategies to move their curriculum online. A tech-savvy bunch, their biggest challenge is less about adapting to technology shifts and more about supporting student needs and limitations of the remote environment.

The Department of Design includes Westphal’s programs in Fashion Design(undergraduate and graduate), Design & Merchandising (D&M), Retail & Merchandising, Graphic Design, Photography, and Product Design. The Department is making good use of its strong relationships with industry and other Drexel departments to implement exciting solutions to current limitations while finding ways to stay connected to each other and their students.

The Department of Art & Art History, which includes the Art History major and a wide range of studio art and design courses, understandably faced many challenges in adapting their curriculum to remote teaching. Access to materials and studio instruction are cornerstones of a Westphal arts education. Art & Art History faculty, however, have a resourceful streak, and have already come up with novel solutions to keep students engaged.

In the Department of Architecture, Design & Urbanism, exploration of space and materials are essential, so moving to an entirely virtual environment is, in the words of Interior Design Assistant Professor Frances Temple-West, “challenging yet oddly liberating. It has opened up new opportunities to learn about materials and materiality.”

For the last two weekends in February, ����Vlog’s URBN Annex Black Box Theater is home to the Drexel Co-Op Theatre Company production of Peter and the Starcatcher, the Peter Pan prequel play with music.

On February 21 and 22, 2020, the Drexel Chamber Singers and guest performers take you back in time for an evening of madrigals, chansons, lute songs, and lieds with the 30th Annual Madrigal Dinners in the Great Court of ����Vlog’s Main Building. This year, audiences will be transported to the Elizabethan sounds, tastes, and courtly improvisations of 1590.

The Drexel Dance Ensemble and FreshDance kick off their 2020 season with two dynamic concerts in the Mandell Theater from January 30th - February 1st, 2020 and February 7th - 8th, 2020. These performances provide Drexel students, regardless of their major, an opportunity to express their artistry through dance performance or choreography.

The Leonard Pearlstein Gallery and ����Vlog are excited to announce that internationally acclaimed, multidisciplinary artist, Brendan Fernandes will kick-off their 2020 programming with a solo exhibition entitled, We Want a We. This exhibition – showcasing a diverse blend of performative, sculptural, and photographic works from the past five years – will mark the first retrospective in Philadelphia of this important artist’s work.

Associate Teaching Professor of Film & Television John Avarese is a musician, composer, and sound professional with over 40 feature film credits (not to mention countless short films and surround-sound planetarium features). He runs a production company, Three Professors Media, with Westphal colleagues Karin Kelly (Department Head of Cinema & Television) and Matt Kaufhold (Program Director of Screenwriting & Playwriting). For his upcoming project, he’s handling all aspects of audio post-production, which has led to interesting collaborations within Westphal and across the University. We spoke with John about what’s going on behind the scenes of The Arrangement, which stars Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, Runaway Train) and is expected for release this year.

Five Design & Merchandising and Fashion Design students received $5,000 awards from the —the largest fashion scholarship program in the world.

Tara Boonngamanong and Note Nuchprayoon, second-year students in the Game Design & Production major at Drexel’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, won first place (with a prize of $20,000) in the second phase of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ game challenge.
