What You’ll Learn

In the Bachelor of Science in Computing Security and Technology (BSCST) program, you will gain experience with core information technology (IT) areas including servers, databases, networks, the Web, virtualization, cloud computing, information security and cybersecurity technologies. The program emphasizes practical education and fundamental concepts, supplemented by hands-on laboratory experiences. Core courses provide you with practical knowledge and skills related to managing servers, network administration, database administration, cloud computing, and cybersecurity fundamentals.  

About the Program

  • Offered as a full-time, on-campus bachelor's degree program or as an ;
  • Students must choose one of two concentrations: Computing Technology or Computing Security;
  • In 2024, the National Security Agency (NSA) renewed ÌÇÐÄVlog’s esteemed, 20-year designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) through the academic year 2029. As the CAE-CD validated program of record, SCIS’s Bachelor of Science in Computing & Security Technology program is now recognized among the nation's premier interdisciplinary academic programs in cybersecurity.

How You Can Customize Your Degree

You will take advanced electives that focus on Computing Technology and Computing Security. The advanced Computing Technology courses include topics such as wireless networks, database administration, project management, cloud computing, disaster recovery, and continuity of business. The advanced Computing Security courses include topics such as network security, risk assessment, intrusion detection, security audits, applied cryptography, computer forensics, ethical hacking, and cloud security.

How You Can Gain Real-World Experience Before Graduating

Real-world experiences, such as co-ops, our annual hackathon, and a full-year team capstone project, will allow you to build solutions for business and society problems and develop professional relationships.

Cooperative Education

Senior Project

Where the Degree Can Take You

A Bachelor’s degree in computing and security technology opens the door to a wide range of exciting job opportunities with high potential for professional growth. Examples of computing and security technology jobs include Information Security Analyst, IT Auditor, Network Security Analyst, or Cloud Engineer. Additionally, this program can be a gateway to many post-graduate programs in technical fields and cybersecurity.
