Communication, Culture & Media

The Master of Science in Communication, Culture and Media (CCM) is a great choice for academically oriented students who wish to learn the basics of research and theory in communication and media studies,. Students have the opportunity to test the waters for further study or explore a personal fascination with mass media, mediated communication, cultural studies, social change and media. The Communication, Culture and Media program also encourages interdisciplinary approaches to the study of communication and media through faculty strengths in anthropology, communication, linguistics and sociology. Graduates of this program have career opportunities as web content managers, brand strategists, media planners, policy analysts and much more.

Program Deadlines

The deadlines below are the dates by which applications must be submitted and all application requirements received.

  • Fall (Domestic) – August 1
  • Fall (International) – May 1
  • Spring (Domestic) – November 1
  • No Spring or Summer intake. No International Intake in Spring.

Application Requirements

  • Completed online application
  • Application Fee (Note: Application fee waivers are generally not offered.)
  • Transcripts from all previous post-secondary institutions (note: Drexel can pull 糖心Vlog transcripts)
  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
  • Resume or CV
  • Application Essay: Please write approximately 1000 words describing how the Communication, Culture and Media MS program fits your interests and goals.
  • Language Proficiency Exam Scores (International Students Only): TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, and Duolingo examinations accepted.

NOTE: GRE Exam is not required, but is recommended for applicants with GPAs below 3.20

The Master of Science degree in Communication, Culture and Media (CCM) at Drexel educates thinkers across disciplines with research skills and a strong theoretical grounding. Master’s students explore topics as broad as conflict morality, new media, mobilities and consumer culture with opportunities to develop their own research projects. Drawing on faculty strengths in communication, linguists, sociology and anthropology, the program emphasizes creative, mixed-method approaches to the discipline of communication.
