Waitlists

Waitlists at a Glance

  • Join a waitlist for eligible closed (full) course sections.

  • You may only join one waitlist within the same course (Example: You may join the waitlist for ENGL 101 001 or ENGL 101 002, but not both.)

  • Seats are offered in waitlist order as they become available.

  • When notified by email, you have 24 hours to register.

  • Missing the 24-hour registration window removes you from the waitlist.

  • Waitlist placement does not guarantee enrollment. Eligibility remains dependent on prerequisites, restrictions, holds, or other registration requirements.

  • Waitlists are cleared on the Thursday of final exam week immediately preceding the start of the term.

How Waitlists Work

Waitlists allow students to join an electronic queue for a closed (full) course section.

Not all courses offer waitlists, and individual departments determine which courses will have waitlist capabilities. A waitlist can be added to a course section at any time, including during registration. Waitlists cannot be used in conjunction with Reserved Seating.

To determine whether a course has waitlist capabilities, review the course Status column in Banner Self-Service or the Enrollment/Waitlist tab in the Class Details pop-up.

ImportantPlacement on a waitlist does not guarantee enrollment and does not override prerequisites, registration restrictions, holds, or other eligibility requirements.

As seats become available, eligible students are notified in wait list order by the Office of the University Registrar via email. Students have 24 hours from the time the email is sent to register. If you register within the deadline, the seat is yours. If you miss the deadline, you lose your waitlist position.

All remaining waitlists are cleared on the Thursday of final exam week immediately preceding the start of the term. If the University is closed on that day, waitlists will be cleared on the next business day the University is open.

You will lose your place on the waitlist. If you still wish to enroll in the course, you must add yourself to the waitlist again, if space on the waitlist is available.

No. Placement on a waitlist does not guarantee enrollment, nor does a full waitlist guarantee another section will be created.

All remaining waitlists are cleared on the Thursday of final exam week immediately preceding the start of the term. If the University is closed on that day, waitlists will be cleared on the next business day the University is open.
